FAQs

Cleaning & Maintenance

How should I clean and maintain my countertops?

To clean spills and daily messes, simply use a damp cloth or paper towel. For tougher, dried-on messes, any pH neutral cleaner (such as Bar Keepers Friend) can be used.

Avoid: Harsh cleaners and abrasive sponges, including bleach, nail polish remover, oven cleaner, drain cleaner, natural stone polish, and all types of scouring pads. These can cause scratches or dull the surface.

Always use: Cutting boards. We recommend you avoid cutting and preparing food directly on the countertop surface.

Sealing & Heat

Do I need to seal my stone?

Yes, natural stones such as granite or marble countertops should be sealed periodically. All slabs are sealed prior to installation to provide a barrier against spills. The required frequency depends on the area the stone is installed, but on average, it should be resealed every one to three years. We are happy to provide this service for you!

Can I put hot items directly on my countertop surface?

Natural stone (granite, marble) countertops are inherently heat safe. However, quartz is heat resistant, not heat proof. To prevent cracking, it is always recommended to set hot skillets, pans, crock pots, griddles, electric skillets, and any type of electric cooker on hot pads or trivets and not directly on the surface.

Materials & Selection

What is more expensive, granite or quartz?

As a general rule of thumb, most quartz products are priced similarly to a mid-range granite. Since granite is a natural stone, its cost varies based on the availability of the stone, the consistency of its pattern, and the types of minerals present in the slab.

Can I hand-pick my own slabs?

Yes, you are welcome to select your own slabs and tag them to our account if you use one of our preferred vendors. Otherwise, a slab pick-up fee will be applied.

What does the term "book matched" mean?

Book matched slabs are consecutively cut from the same block and are installed to mirror image each other, creating a striking, continuous pattern.

What happens to my leftover slab material?

You may pick up your remnants or use them to design an additional project. However, any materials remaining after 30 days of job completion become the property of Hye Touch Services.

Project Scope & Payment

Will you hook up appliances or plumbing?

Moving furniture, appliances, electrical, and plumbing is not the responsibility of Hye Touch Services. We recommend coordinating with a licensed plumber or electrician for these services.

What is your warranty?

Hye Touch Services provides a one (1) year warranty on all products installed. The warranty is limited to normal wear and tear and does not cover damages resulting from misuse, abuse, neglect, prolonged exposure to liquid/oil, mishandling, unauthorized modifications, or structural failure. Any necessary repairs after one year will be completed on a service charge basis.

How can I pay for my project?

A 50% deposit is required for materials and fabrication to start the job. The balance must be paid in full at the time of completion. We accept cash, check, or money order. Please note that any changes or additions to the scope of work will result in a price adjustment. A $\$50.00$ fee will be applied for any returned checks.

Installation & Timeline

How long does the countertop installation process take?

Once your slabs are fabricated, the actual installation typically takes one full day for an average-sized kitchen or bathroom project. This process includes setting the countertops, seaming (if necessary), and securing them in place. The entire project timeline, from the initial consultation and material selection to templating and final installation, generally takes 2 to 3 weeks, depending on the material availability and project complexity. We always strive to minimize disruption and communicate a clear timeline from start to finish.
